Why You Think You’re Right — Even When You’re Wrong
I had mistakenly created a world I need to let go of
I need a new awareness
I need new beliefs
I need new questions
There is no reward for being confused
But if we make the contrary invisible
We will never change
We can keep being our own enemies
And focus on the facts that support our outlooks
And not be disturbed when someone says something different
But why shush them
When we can let them in?
Why hesitate to understand others
When they can challenge what we believe?
All we are is aching to be right
But this cannot happen
When all we see
Are people on the side of evil

There is no training for what we don’t know
But since I was trained to mistrust
My beliefs and values are stationary
Closed down
Constantly not exposed to questions
We are confused
We don’t listen
And we justify our actions
We are unwilling
Leaving ourselves exposed
To our own values being our standards
My positions disrespect me
Making me motivated to stay the same
And leaving my patience short
Closed down
Morals low
Knowledge limited
How can we change
When we are forced to believe in ourselves
Leaving other perspectives to be lost?
How can they and I become a gift
When these different perspectives are ignored?
Understanding Different Perspectives
How do we challenge ourselves and others
Rather than simply focusing on what we know?
What are we understanding
If we are always confused?
